Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have actually been seized by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications by means of the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.
"These types of items being sold, normally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their safety.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
